Thanks to the magical powers of the internet, it is now possible to get paid to work from home. And by that I mean, it’s possible to find legitimate work that pays actual money. But it wasn’t always like that. I’ve been doing various easy work from home jobs, and I remember the time when the internet was full of scammy and shady companies out to dupe hard-working people such as myself.
Well, I’d like to think I’m smarter now and able to weed out the scammy sites from the legit ones. But there are still scam sites out there. Believe me, getting suckered into working from one of those really stinks. I once wrote content for a fake psychic’s blog and he saved his great vanishing act when it was time to pay me! I don’t want any of my Beer Money readers to go through the same thing, and that is why I’m writing down my list of easy online jobs that allow you to get paid from home. All these methods are legit, and I can personally vouch for them since I’ve tried them all at one time or another. But before we get to my list, I need to clarify what working from home really means.
Working From Home: Common Misconceptions
There’s this idea that when you’re working from home, you’re not really working. After all, all you’re doing is staring at your monitor, right? But all of the methods I’ll be listing actually require real, honest work. You know a site is a scam if it promises you money for zero effort.
Also, you won’t get rich through any of these means. In fact, another sign that a site is a scam is if it makes promises that are simply too good to be true. So, sorry if you’re looking to buy a swanky new sports car with these earning methods. These are all legit ways to earn good money, but that sports car just ain’t gonna happen.
What these earnings are good for is supplementing your regular income. I call this “beer money” but it doesn’t just have to be beer money. It could include helping offset your car payments, or paying for a modest vacation. But whatever you need the money for, these sites are good for it. So let’s check out my favorite work from home earning methods, shall we?
Design Shirts and Other Merch
If you’ve got a creative streak, or are good at graphic design, you can check out a site called Redbubble. You can upload your works on the site and sell them as designs for mugs, shirts, tote bags, notebooks, and all sorts of merchandise. The best part about this is that Redbubble handles the production and logistics. When a person buys your design, Redbubble handles the printing and delivery of the item. For that, the site gets a cut of your earnings, but it’s totally worth it. If you’ve ever dreamed of opening your own shirt company, this is the next best thing.
Watch Online Videos
In various blog posts, I’ve raved about what I call “passive earning” methods. By passive earning, I mean you can earn money without exerting much effort. Taking watching videos, for example. GrabPoints is a rewards site that will pay you in either cash or gift cards for watching sponsored content. Since you don’t actually have to “actively” watch the videos, I call them passive earning methods. And they’re great because you can keep videos playing while doing other earning methods. So it’s a “stackable” earning method as well.
I brought up GrabPoints because they’re the highest-paying rewards site on Earth. When trying out rewards sites, they should be your first stop.
Become an Online Tutor
If you’ve got the appropriate skills and credentials, you can look into becoming an online tutor. One of the best platforms for that is Udemy. On Udemy, you upload video lessons, and you get paid whenever a student views it. So it’s kind of like YouTube for (actual) learning. You don’t have to be an academic to teach here. Udemy hosts all sorts of subjects. In addition to your usual math and science lessons, you can also find lessons on pet care and training, photography, and cooking.
Transcribe Audio Recordings
If you’ve got a good ear for detail, you can work as an audio transcriptionist. What the job entails is creating a written document based on voice recordings given to you by clients. These cover all sorts of recordings, such as interviews done by journalists and lectures conducted by teachers. You can also transcribe medical and legal recordings, but those usually require special training. But if you’re willing to put in the time and effort, transcribing can be a great source of income. You can look into TranscribeMe to start your transcribing journey.
Deliver Amazon Packages
Okay, not all online jobs require you to sit in front of the computer all day. In fact, this specific job requires you to get out in the real world. Amazon Flex is a program where private individuals can deliver Amazon packages. It’s basically like the Uber for Amazon deliveries. You will have to use your own vehicle, but at least you can set your own hours, which is great if you’ve got other side hustles to maintain. When you receive a notification on your phone, you head to a nearby Amazon warehouse, pick up the package, and make the delivery. Your delivery radius will be limited to a reasonable distance, making this a great way to earn a few bucks.
Do Random Jobs on Amazon Mechanical Turk
This is another side hustle from Amazon, and that’s because the company is pretty good with providing earning opportunities for us work-from-home peeps. There’s no quick way to describe Amazon Mechanical Turk, but it’s basically a random job marketplace. People post jobs for you to take. These jobs can include data entry, photo tagging, or even private shopping and other odd jobs. If you’re looking for different types of jobs to do, this is the place to start looking.
